The sand filter is used to separate organic particles and micro-organisms found in water coming from rivers, canals, dams, lakes, and which interfere with the proper execution of micro-irrigation systems. The supply of sand filter and hydrocyclone materials is assured by the Italian supplier: idra.
The sand filter consists of a tank filled with sand. Driven by the pump, the water enters the top of the tank and passes through the sand grains. The sand retains the impurities, and the purified water can return to the pond. The sand filter is able to retain impurities of 30 to 40 microns. The fineness of the filtration can be improved by adding a water flocculant.
